About

STAC-J stands for the "Science and Technology Advisory Council-Japan Chapter".

It was formed by an alliance of Filipino scientists, engineers and students in Tokyo, Japan on December 3, 1995. Its primary objective is to advance the advocacies of science and technology as an important tool for the Philippine development.

As such, all its endeavors are directed to achieve this lofty intent.

Since 2001, it provides a humble sum of financial grants and technical assistance to Filipino university students by the yearly Undergraduate Research Grant (URG).

Twice a year, it convenes Filipino graduate students of Japanese universities around Tokyo for the Graduate Research Forum (GRF), which showcases the recent works of these Japan-based Filipino scholars in the academe.

Along side, it hosts the Kapihan, which takes a lighter note on scholarly discussions by practical and everyday-life topics designed to further enhance the learning experience of the graduate students.

As its outreach program, the organization also provides training programs in the areas of computer literacy and entrepreneurship to Filipino expatriates in Tokyo.
